Image, is the combination of external object and subjective feelings of the author. In literary works, the authors often use images to express their inner feelings. Studying images is an important method to interpret the literary works and an important way to understand the innermost mind of the author as well. There are a lot of images in the textbooks of the primary and secondary Chinese teaching, and Chinese College Entrance Examination also attaches great importance to students'analytical and understanding ability of images. Image teaching is an indispensable part in Chinese language teaching.The image of lotus is an image of great popularity. Starting from"There are small trees in the mountains and lotuses in the marshy land" in the The ancient "Book of Songs", the lotus had been praised by a lot of scholars. The textbooks of the primary and secondary Chinese teaching, taking the task of inheriting and better enhancing the outstanding Chinese culture as its important responsibility, select and use some literary works which contains the image of lotus. This article tries to analyze the image of lotus in textbooks of the primary and secondary Chinese teaching, and,taking the image of lotus as an example, discusses the image teaching in the primary and secondary Chinese teaching.This article analyzes the main connotation of images of lotus in the textbooks of the primary and secondary Chinese teaching and discusses the positive significance of lotus images to the Chinese teaching in primary and high schools. By doing systematic induction of images of lotus in the texts at different stages, the article tries to help the teachers get an overall idea of image teaching, and at the same time, to know the goals at different stages clearly. Lotus image is the typical representative of grass imagery in Chinese classical literature. The analysis and synthesis of lotus image, has great significance and can offer certain enlightenment to the other grass imagery in the textbooks of the primary and secondary Chinese teaching.Taking the image of lotus as an example, starting from process of image creating and image understanding, the article divides image teaching into three stages:capturing image, appreciating image, deepening image and analyzes the teaching method of image in specific stages. It tries to discuss the general method of image teaching by treating image of lotus as a typical representative.
