Generation Of Migrant Workers Occupational Mobility

In this paper, we study the characteristics, motivation, ways and expectations of Cenozoic migrant workers' occupation flow on the basis of field study in Nanjing.Besides, we explore the influencing factors of Cenozoic migrant workers'occupation flow. Taking the human capital theory and social support theory as the theoretical guidance, this paper makes the integrated use of the questionnaire and case interviews to collect data. Besides, it describes and analyzes the basic occupation flow of the Cenozoic migrant workers, and it examines the relationship between the human capital, social networks, system background and the Cenozoic migrant workers' occupation flow, by using univariate descriptive analysis and dual variable interaction analysis and correlation analysis.We draw the following conclusions:First, Cenozoic migrant workers' occupation flow is presenting new features. New generation migrant workers move more frequently, their motivation tend to be more rational, their flowing ways are more wild and their flowing wishes are more strong. Second, In human capital factors, ascribed factors including sex, age, marital status, the background of family and achieved factors including vocational skills, work time, professional experience play a part together. Among them, work time is significantly related with the migrant workers occupation flow, but cultural degree and professional skills don't pass the test. Third, strong relationship and weak relationship are both important social networks in Cenozoic migrant workers'occupation flow process, but they play different roles. Migrant workers rely on strong relationships into a new city. Later, they tend to use weak relationship and intermediary power to achieve aims, so the role of strong relationship are gradually weaken. Fourth, Cenozoic migrant workers have strong occupation flow will, but all sorts of relevant social system arrangement limit their effective occupation flow.The occupation flow of Cenozoic migrant workers is influenced by individual quality, family system and social system. So individual households, businesses, the society all should take some measures to guide Cenozoic migrant workers and help them realize effective occupation flow. Cenozoic migrant workers themselves should try their best to strengthen their human capital and social capital construction; Enterprise should offer them the regular professional training, and provide more professional development space, using variety of incentives to develop their potential; The government should increase the system reform, reduce the unreasonable arrangements to make them flow more frequently.
