As is mentioned in the mid and long term program of china's education reform and development (from 2010 to 2020), it is necessary to strengthen labor education, and encourage the students to enjoy laboring as well as love laborers. It is widely acknowledged that only with good ability of laboring, being independent and creativity can one adapt to the development of modern society, because of which, it's especially important to strengthen labor education in primary and middle schools.Based on the characteristics of human's psychological and physiological growth and following education law, labor education is carried out aimed to help the students form good habits of laboring and develop their interest in laboring, thus arousing their emotions and tempering their willpower. In labor education, combination of brain and hands is stressed, so that both laboring ability and creativity is developed. Such kind of education is not only essential in students' life long study and their sustainable development but also is an important approach for quality-oriented education to be performed. To make the students realize the great significance of labor, labor education conducted in primary and middle schools is mainly about arousing the students' enthusiasm of enjoying laboring, and loving laborers, as a result, good qualities are developed such as observing discipline, industrious and simple style of work, caring for others and cherishing the fruits of others' labor.Located in the midst of Inner Mongolia, XilinGol is a base for green livestock products as well as energy and chemical industry. XilinGol Mongolian middle school is a demonstrative one in the autonomous region with 61 classes included, in which I have been working for 18 years. In these years' work, I have found that a majority of students, without good ability of laboring, have a poor sense of laboring, let alone, are equipped with labor quality, which pushes me to write an article concerned about labor education. I feel more than painful to see the students have their leftovers thrown away. More surprisingly, some boarders are so lazy as to spend money having their underwear washed in laundries. Such phenomena set me thinking about the shortcomings existing in our education. We seem to have forgotten all about the word labor. Faced with the serious situation, I propose that labor education be supposed to be laid more emphasis upon in order to improve the students'labor ability, which,in turn, pushes the education reform of our schools to a higher level.I made a survey about the status quo of labor among 500 students (mostly from senior grade one and two) in our school via discussing, individual research and investigation by questionnaire. The subjects are questioned and tested in the aspect of the attitude towards labor, and the sense as well as their ideas of labor.Through my daily teaching work, I have realized the importance of labor education, who, based on the status quo of our students'labor, seeks to get comprehensively aware of the problems existing in our labor education and analyze what actually caused them. By exploring and discovering the practical and effective strategies to the issues, I desire to provide first hand materials for labor education study.
