The course on Chinese teaching as a foreign language often embodies sentences' teaching, like words, phrases and grammar and textbook's showing and so on.. In many textbooks, grammar points are showed typically by sentence pattern. So sentence type's teaching is indispensable part in Chinese language teaching. From the angle of students from foreign, their mastering of sentence type greatly influences their oral, writing, even the command of whole Chinese learning. So it is an important measure of Chinese Teaching As Foreign Language whether they have good command of sentence type.What to teacher and how to teacher is quite important.In students'learning, empty word is the tough part. The sentence type which contains empty words becomes their learning's emphasis naturally, such as the sentence type "yibian A yibian B". Verb is the most active one of all types of words. Sentence pattern "yibian A yibianB" is always connected with verb and verb phrase, so "yibian A yibianB" is often occurred in students'learning and their oral speaking. After analyzing a large number of students'corpus from their writing, we found that they have made many mistakes on using this sentence type, especially on B.This paper focuses on the sentence pattern of "yibian A yibian B" and analyzes it from synchronic and diachronic angles. Firstly it will explore the use of Chinese words "bian" and "yibian" in ancient Chinese language materials, analyze "yibian"'s grammatical change course, so that we can find out the diachronic changes of sentence type "yibian A yibian B". Then the paper will study the sentence's grammar structure, semantic and pragmatic environment and so on, looking for all kinds'elements which limites the usage of B in "yibian A yibian B". Finally, the author will apply research result to analyzing students'mistakes and their causes. The paper is aiming to give readers complete, accurate, thorough and detailed explanation.First part is the introduction, which states paper's aim, significance, and research situation of domestic and foreign, theory and study methods.Second part is to explore the lexicalization and syntax of phrase "yibian" and sentence pattern's changing course of "yibian A yibian B" Third part mainly analyzes the sentence pattern "yibian A yibian B" from "the planes theory" and find out all elements'limiting usage to "B". Meantime, compare and analyze "yibian A yibian B" with its similar sentence pattern.The last part is about to find out the errors from students'writings and look for the reasons of these errors. Thus, some teaching suggestions will be proposed on how to teach this sentence pattern of "yibian A yibian B".The last part is a summary for the thesis.
