There are differences and similarities between "weile" and "yibian", which are both one of the weak sides of Chinese grammar study and a difficulty of Chinese learning. This thesis discusses the differences and similarities in details in semantic, pragmatic, and syntactic dimensions. We argue that the difference between "'weile" and "yibian" is that "weile" stresses the evoking function of "mudi" to actions; while "yibian" expresses the result that the action can obtain or easily obtain. And this difference on semantic dimension leads to the differences on pragmatic and syntactic dimensions. On the basis of study on "weile" and "yibian" in modern Chinese, We also analyze the acquisition situation of "weile" and "yibian" in oversea students. We find there are same sorts of errors in oversea students who have different mother language. Analyzed these errors, we offer some suggestions on "weile" and "yibian" teaching.
