The adverb "Chang" and "Chang Chang" are not only the important adverbs ofthe Chinese adverbs system, but also the important component of the foundation forms and overlapping forms adverbs evolution of the representatives.This article researches of "Chang" and "Chang Chang" in generation and evolution of separation of meanings,grammars and pragmatics in different historical stages.The research findings will guide the Chinese research and Chinese teaching.Chapterl is the introduction section.It introduces the purpose and meanings of thesis,the current situation of the research on "Chang" and "Chang Chang".This part also includes the theories and methods of the reseach,and the sources oflanguage materials.Chapter2 defines the category and the related concept and category of "Chang" and"Chang Chang".It also ascertains the research of "Chang" and "Chang Chang" is part of the study of AA type adverbs and its base type.And "Chang" and "Chang Chang" are frequency adverbs which belongs to adverbs of time.Chapter3 focuses on analyzing the adverbs "Chang" and "Chang Chang" in different stages of Chinese development in the semantic use, syntactic function and pragmatic collocation,etc.In the ancient Chinese,"Chang" means "skirt" "flag" "mainly" "permanent" "often" etc.From the mediaeval times to nowadays,the meaning "often" gradually to be the dominant."Chang Chang" developted to be adverb in morden Chinese.It mainly used to be "often" or "ordinary"."Chang" can be used as attributive,predicate,object,adverbial and length unit in the ancient times.In modern Chinese,"Chang" was mainly used in the statements of action, watching the adverbial of frequency. While "Chang Chang" was produced by the adverbial has for official duty.Both "Chang" and "Chang Chang" all can be used with dual syllables and many syllable flexible collocation."Chang"give priority to a statement, always cannot be used in the imperative.Chapter4 analyzes the evolution drivers of "Chang" and "Chang Chang" witch consists of grammaticalization,Chinese tremolo change,community and psychology.Chapter5 is the conclusion.It summarizes the research value of the thesis, and puts forward some problems whitch still need to be further discussed.
