In the recent years,"the folk beliefs"has become one of the hot subjects which are carried out by scholars in many fields,such as history,folklore,science of region,etc..These scholars research on Chinese folk beliefs in their own fields from different perspectives. As an important component of traditional Chinese culture , and an important content of the folk beliefs, He Shen Faith has also increasingly attracted academic attention. However, in the current research,it is lack of the systematic study about He Shen Faith and the river temple. Thus, I combine and summarize the ancient Chinese beliefs and the river temples and find the ancient Chinese beliefs has not only a long history ,but also a very rich cultural connotation.Moreover,the construction of so many river temples reflects the special status of the He Shen Faith in ancient China.I select Qing Dynasty as the break of the study .I analize and summarize the system,regulation and functional characteristics of river temple and find the He Shen Faith and the governance of the yellow river have a close relationship in Qing Dynasty.The system of river temples in Qing Dynasty is divided into three parts, namely the system of the South river temple , and the system of the East River temple and the system of the capital temple ; the river temples can be divided into different types in accordance with established methods, the status of primary and secondary, the size ;As He Shen Faith was included in the national worship in Qing Dynasty, so He Shen Faith have a strict regulatory system in rituals, sacrifice, ceremonial vessels,etc.;the He Shen Faith and the construction of the river temples mainly embody the function of meeting the demands of tranquil canal ,the function of social integration, the function of the imperial power strengthen as well as the function of enlightenment.
