Enlightening Ideas Of Traditional Chinese Education To Teaching Of Chinese To Speakers Of Other Languages

With the prosperous development of the cause of TCSOL (Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages), the problems of teachers, textbooks and pedagogy have been puzzling the development of TSCOL, which concerns the healthy stable and sustainable development of TCSOL. Traditional Chinese education has a history of over a thousand years, which established a unique teaching system in teaching Chinese characters and Chinese language. Churchmen from western countries in Ming and Qing Dynasties could not only speak fluent Chinese but also write works in Chinese and the textbooks by which they learnt Chinese are textbooks used in traditional Chinese education. Therefore, the paper is trying to give enlightening ideas to textbook compilation and pedagogy construction to TCSOL from points of view of traditional Chinese education.Firstly, the paper gives an analysis on the feasibility to make a comparison study on traditional Chinese education and TCSOL, which is the basis for presenting the detailed points of this paper. Secondly, the paper systematically summarizes and compares the course arrangement, textbooks and teaching methods of traditional Chinese education and TCSOL and then put forward the enlightening ideas of traditional Chinese education to TCSOL in the above three aspects.In order to solve the textbook and teaching approach problems in TCSOL in a better way, the paper also bases on the other training aspects that traditional Chinese education involves in to summarize and compare the teaching methods of traditional Chinese education and TCSOL in the following two training aspects: Chinese language teaching elements and Chinese language skills. And then put forward the enlightening ideas of traditional Chinese education to TCSOL in the above four aspects: Chinese character, grammar, reading and writing.
