| Unofficial rural labor settlers'children is a sepcial group in the city. The children in junior high school are in the transition period of self-concept from social to psychological,and the critical period of self-esteem. Grade One is the interface and transition grade between primary and junior high middle school,and the students face adaptation problems of adolescence.The research adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches, and the students who are unofficial rural labor settlers'children of junior high school in Grade One are selected as subject. In the quantitative approach, with the tools of Piers-Harris Children's Self-concept Scale (PHCSS) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES),the whole self-concept and the relationship between self-concept and self-esteem of the subjects are discussed and analysed. In the qualitative approach, two typical cases are selected by the in-depth interview.The results show that study adaptation is the primal adaptation problem of the junior high school students in Grade One. The development of self-concept of the junior high students in Grade One is influenced by the relationship with his/her father.The last part of the paper puts forward the suggestions to the general educators and parents——with the new perspective, to cultivate positive self- concept and good self-esteem of the junior high school students.The results are as follows:(1)There is no significant difference in the aggregate score of self-concept between unofficial rural labor settlers'children and Suzhou local students in Grade One .(2)There is difference in self-esteem between unofficial rural labor settlers'children and Suzhou local students in Grade One.(3)There is the significant correlation between self-concept and self-esteem . |
