During the middle and latter period of the 19th century, in pace with the western capitalism started the global market and intruded into Chinese native country, China had therefrom entered semi-colonial and semi-feudal society, thus brought about its tremendous changes in every field such as society, politics, economy and culture and so forth. Contrasting with the turbulence in politics and decline in economy, the brightness of literature in this time dazzled the word's eyes, especially the traditional poets and the classical poems whose glorious reviving once again made the modern poetic circle brilliant and prolific had left many masterpieces.Among those famous poets, there was a man of letter called Xu Chengyao shinning particularly. He came from Huangshan Mountain, experienced turbulent period of Latter Qing dynasty and Republic China but upheld writing all the same. His works Yi An Shi which contains more than one thousand and seven hundred poems had recorded all his life as well as his emotion of concerning about country and people, intoxicating in natural scenery, comfortable life as a hermit. His poems describing Huangshan Mountain were so splendid and artistic style rich and colorful that the other masters that period had to have a high opinion of him.In the modern poetic circle that schools stood in great numbers like a forest, Xu Chengyao had never readily echoed with other poetic schools'holdings not only in literature theory but also writing practice. He also independently swallowed anything and everything without entrapped by others, and formed his own unique art manner and got outstanding literature achievement.The academia recently paid litter attention to Xu Chengyao and his works or himself as a poet. So he was like a pearl veiled by dirt and needed discovered by scholar nowadays. This paper, focuses on Yi An Shi and links with the specific society and history that ages, discusses deeply his poetry and himself in the hope of cleansing and shining this pearl to make him bright again. At the same time, this paper will study from different visual angle his real politic standpoint during the Revolution of 1911 and his proper division of poetic school in modern literary world.
