Bitterness And Heaviness Behind Warmth

Chi Zijian, a woman writer, who comes from the north border of China, is known in the contemporary literary circles for her unique personality and charisma. Because of the deep love of the vast northern land, her novels always focus on her hometown's natural scenery, custom, and trivial life of ordinary people. She describes the life and performance of the local people in her hometown in a woman's gentle and delicate tone. She persists on the warm expression of bitter life, but it has serious social content, and rich aesthetic meaning behind the poetic warmth.Basing on existing research results, this paper trys to analyze and grasp the bitterness and heaviness in detail in Chi Zijian's works. It based on intensive reading of the novel texts, and analysis of the author's personal experience and prose writing. In addition to introduction and conclusion, it is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses Chi Zijian's unique character in the contemporary literary world, and her unique characters are: her works are presented in rational and economical texts by reason of her sober and calm attitude, not belonging to any trends of literature causes her to show"reversal"tendencies. This chapter aims at a whole understanding of Chi Zijian and her writings, and makes a foundation for the full text of the paper. The second chapter firstly analyzes the specific presentation of ordinary people's suffering and plight, which including physical pain caused by poor , and mental confusion; then deeply analyzes the sources of suffering and plight. With the writer's growing life experiences and society knowledge, the sources she explored gradually tend to essence. The third chapter dwells on the ways out of suffering and distress in Chi Zijian's novels. Her faith in human nature makes her regards the salvation of humanity as the preferred resolution. But before the impact of the industrial civilization and market economy, she often turns her eyes to the beautiful and quiet nature and poetic romance in daily life, for helping people get rid of pain and trouble.
