With the development of the economy, people's living standard keeps increasing. Food, the necessity of daily life, faces a fierce market competition. Then how to attract the consumers'attention really matters. Thus, full of national characteristics of food packaging by more and more popular.This paper studies the design of Japanese national characteristics of food packaging, trying to explain national characteristics of Japanese food packaging design play an important role.Japan is one of the world's packaging design powers. Due to its unique geographical environment and a long closed-door policy, the traditional Japanese culture is well preserved and develops so far. In the new era, Japan's food packaging not only continues to carry forward the tradition of its own, but also actively absorbs and learns from advanced foreign packaging design culture and ideas. In this process, Japan's national characteristics of food packaging have been further demonstrated, displaying completely traditional style as well as simple modern characteristics.This paper, through the analysis of the national characteristics in the design of Japanese food packaging, hopes to make some contribution to the development of the Chinese packaging design. We can learn from each other, design a packaging style that is more conformable with Chinese modern concept of consumption and demand, contributing a share to the development of modern Chinese packaging design.
