As the social,economic and cultural levels keep improving and the process technology gets increasingly mature,the entire packaging industry in China has seen rapid development in recent years.No longer serving a single purpose,the current packaging also functions as brand recognition responsible for telling brand stories and promoting cultural concepts and aesthetics in a fierce market competition environment.In addition,the packaging is expected by consumers to boost their emotions.Consequently,it has become a trend to consider and design cereal packaging solutions on the basis of human senses.The designer is currently advocating integrating the package with its content and packaging the product in a multi-angle and all-around way.In contrast,Japan's cereal packaging design is more developed.Taking it as the object of comparison and study,and illustrated by many successful cases,this paper proceeds from the characteristics of cereal products and packaging design elements to discuss the functional value of packaging.It analyzes,compares,and studies the good and bad cereal packaging designs in Japan and China,summarizes the differences between China and Japan in cereal packaging designs,and tries to draw lessons from them to help the packaging in China develop into what is more close to the standards for good packaging design and the aesthetics of consumers.By so doing,it aims to enhance the competitiveness of China's cereal products.This paper discusses and makes a comparative study of the cereal packaging designs in China and Japan.Illustrated by cases of specific packaging designs,it further elaborates upon the viewpoints herein.The conclusion it reaches will provide feasible methods and ideas for relevant products in the near future,and thus it is of certain practical guiding significance.The study and exploration of packaging design features and design strategy models through comparing China with Japan will guide designers to consider the needs of target consumers in a multi-angle and all-around way for the future development of cereal packaging,thereby coming up with more compelling products.
