His lifetime was short but with an abundance of creation. He was also the writer who wrote the largest number of the short fictions and obtained the greatest achievement in French Literature. Therefore, he is acknowledged as the founder of the French short stories.Previous studies on the short stores of Guy de Maupassant, were focused on the analysis of his works that reflect characteristics of social reality and the aspects of his creative artistic achievement, etc. This paper will combine his background, life experience and specific context to analyze the image of prostitutes in his short stories The paper was divided into four parts. The Beginning with the era environment of French in 19th century and Guy de Maupassant's life experience, the first part is seperated into four different topics and themes which include Normandy village life,The franco-prussian war, civilian life and noble life and conducted the horizontal comparison analysis of types of prostitute'image built in different subjects of short stories. The second part is to interpret the aritistic animation as seen to build the image of prostitute in the short stories mainly from the v Maupassant novels'viewpoint of creation. The third part is to analyze his unique description of the images of prostitues in his short stories by making vertical comparison to classic images of prostitues written by Alexandre Dumasfils and Honoré·de Balzac, who were also famous at that time.
