On The Professional Flute Education

Through many years research of the flute education development in major music institutions in China and the current research of the situation of the professional flute teaching, the author gives a positive definition of the professional flute education. That can be used as a reference for other music institution.During the process of making those research, the author has collected a number of professional flute education syllabus of domestic and international musical institutions, with reference value, has interviewed many flute students domestically and oversea, and meanwhile has made a research on her on learning experiences. According to the comparison of interviews, admission requirements, admission processes, curriculum, teaching repertoire, education principals in different music institutions at home and abroad, the author found the differences and the distance between China and developed countries.The author found that the admission abroad is more strict, and the education principal is that teachers abroad encourage students to study more actively, to learn their own way of playing and repertoire, and at the same time to make their own understanding of music pieces besides the basis. However the flute education in China is relatively insufficient. The flute education abroad is more about how to play different music styles accurately. And now the education in China starts to get closer to this direction. The flute education abroad is more comprehensive, which provides students opportunities playing in orchestras, chamber music groups and other occasions. But the students in China are lack of practice opportunities to learn how to play with others or in a group. Compare to the study environment abroad, the education in China needs a better communicate environment.Since the reform and opening-up, the flute education in China has achieved a big progress. But we still needs to be aware the problems we have. We should work on the following things in order to get better.Improve the admission quality. Music institutions should have some-more strict attitude of testing the candidates'performance level. Improve the unprofessional students'level so that more students on a high level can be sent to professional music schools.Teacher can give more space and freedom to students in order to foster students'independent learning ability, and also encourage students to learn kinds of flute music as many as possible.Schools should emphasis more on music theory teaching. A propriate music performance is supported by extensive knowledge of music theory. Major teachers can also encourage students to express their own understanding into the music.The flute education in China should more focus on fostering students of comprehensive ability, building a better study communication environment. This will be a big promotion for students' study initiative and for the professional flute education in China.
