This article mainly elaborates the introduction of solfeggio to China and its development in Shanghai Conservatory of Music till 1966. It opens out that the solfeggio development in China had been going along with the historical changes of the near era music after its introduction to China one and half of century ago. As for examples, along with the transition from the old private school system to new school system adopted from western world, Chinese filled own old poems in songs with western tones, began to extensively taste the various music styles of western chef d'oeuvre, and gradually accepted the ways of learning music according to music book instead of the traditional face to face delivery by teachers. The "New textbook on solfeggio" of XiaoYouMei and the "Reviving elementary textbook on solfeggio" of HuangZi clearly showed the solfeggio development in China was in close relationship with the China's near era society changes. After the establishment of National Conservatory of Music Shanghai in 1927, solfeggio was firstly brought into the class room of china's conservatory of music, and became a required course. Then afterwards, Chen Hong coming back from France and Midlievskaya from the former Soviet Union further enriched the contents of this course. And, in 1950-1960's the contents of china national music, china folk song and china opera had gradually been added into the solfeggio course. This article tries to clear up the history of the solfeggio development in China through exploring the historical materials, thus helping us learn from the history and continue to develop solfeggio in China through the heritage of the past and the innovation of the future..
