The number of scholars who had military status in Ming dynasty amounts to 6506, which ranked second in all household registration, only next to civilian at that time. And it accounts for 26.46% in the total number of Ming Dynasty scholars.Scholars of military status'distribution at different times is unbalanced, with the feature of small amount in early and late Ming but large in Mid. The number in different periods and the proportion of all military scholars in the same period show a normal distribution curve, which fully reflects the distributing characteristics at different times, meanwhile suggests their social status, living conditions, as well as the changing in politics, economy, and culture. Besides it proves that the group of people with low social status generally have more craving desire to break through reality and then enter the upper class than those with higher social status. Furthermore, for this goal they will go to study hard and make arduous efforts in hope of achieving good results, and then into the official career. The geographic distribution of the Scholars of Military Status greatly differ from that of common scholars. Among all the scholars, most of the scholars of military Status are from northern Zhili instead of southern provinces. Yunan Province and Guizhou Province in southwest have a small amount of scholars, but many scholars of military status from Guarding Post. In comparison, all the scholars in Liaodong are of military status and all are from Guarding Post. The ratio of military scholars in the total ones present a low point in early stage and an upward wave in middle-late stage. The contribution of the Military Scholars to the history is that scholars at the top-three place and Shu Ji Shi are appointed as officials of the Ministry. During their tenure, most of them contribute and perform remarkably and exceptionally when they assumed the official. Here are some outstanding models: Li Dongyang, Wan An, Liu Ji, Yue Zheng, Liu Xu, Zhai Luan, Liang Chu, Mao Ji, Gao Gong, Zhang Juzheng, Shen Li, Zhao Zhigao, Wang Jiaping, Ye Xianggao, Wan Congzhe, etc. They are diligent at administrative affairs and considerate of the common people, getting remarkable achievements, just in enforcing the law, honest and incorrupted, modest and gentle to others and upright in expostulation.
