Study On Professional Attitudes Of Male Nursing Students And Its Effective Factors In Shandong Province

Objective To investigate the currents situation of male nursing students' professional attitudes and its effective factors in shandong province.Based on this study,some measures are put forward to encourage them to form the active professional attitudes and serve the medical system.Methods A self-made questionnaire on general information and influencing factors on the occupation,and a questionnaire on professional attitudes designed by Professor Anli Jiang in the Second Military Medieal University in Shang hai were applied to investigate and analyze the professional attitudes of 208 male nursing students from Jining medical school of nursing college,Mount taishan medical school of nursing college,Shandong university school of nursing college. Epidata software is used for data input. SPSS 18.0 software is used for U-test,One-way ANOVA,T-test and multi-factor analysis after proof reading.Results For male nursing students, the score of Professionl attitudes was 5.03±0.87, which indicated a neutral attitude with positive tendency.The most highly rated ten itemswere:not every one was suitable for nursing job;nurses need wisdom power and love unity; nurse's labor can't be measured by moneyand so on. There was statistical significance among the attitudes:college aspiration(F=6.643), vocational interest(F=4.753) and school's emphasis on the profession((F=4.753). The effective factors on male nursing students'attitudes are as follows:college aspiration(p=0.141); vocational interest(p=0.195); maternal educational level(p=0.176); self-realization (p=0.156); the attitudes of students from other majors towards nursing (p=0.104); physiological demand (p=0.112); school's emphasis on the profession(p=0.184), social needs (p= 0.138), esteem needs (p=0.104).Conclusions The overall professional attitudes of male nursing Students with positive tendeney,Professional attitudes can be influenced by multiple aspects including personal and social factors.Nursing educators and nursing managers should meet the needs of male nursing students'survival and self realization from multiple aspects and multi-channels to make them form the active professional attitudes.
