Clinical probation is one important part of hursing education teaching plans, and it's a critical stage for developing clinical abilities. But many factors may affect the professional attitudes and learning motivation of the clinical probation students. Moderate motivation can stimulate and maintain effective learning behavior, affecting the clinical practice and their future work. Therefore, emphasis on the learning motivation state of nursing is a necessary condition to improve the clinical teaching quality, but also professional quality of students.Research purposes:To explore the learning motivation of nursing students in clinical probation, and to study the relationship between learning motivation and parental rearing pattern in order to provide a theoretical basis for nursing education teaching and family education.Research Method:A sample of 288 clinical probation students was selected as the subjects of the study. Instruments used for data collection were composed of learning motivation questionnaire, parent upbringing evaluation forms and basic state questionnaire. The data was analyzed by the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 13.0 to understand the learning motivation of the clinical probation students, and make correlation analysis and regression analysis with parental rearing pattern.Research results:1. The learning motivation of clinical probation students aimed at about 60%, falling in the weak range. Order from high to low was ordinal for ability pursuit, altruism orientation, reputation gaining and curious interest. There were significant differences concerning the learning motivation of nursing students with regards to educational background, family income,professional knowledge, living area and gender. The professional knowledge, family income and educational background of nursing students had a primary influence function on their learning motivation.2. The total of clinical probation students'learning motivation had significantly positive correlation with parental emotion warmth and understanding(r1=0.368,r2=0.293,P< 0.01),and had significantly negative correlation with parental predilection, rejection and deny, over-protection and maternal penalty and severe. Internal motivation, external motivation and other dimensions had also significant correlation with parental rearing pattern. Mother's rejection and deny, father's emotion warmth, understanding and over-protection had a significant role in prediction on learning motivation(R2=0.258,F=32.911,P<0.01). Parental rearing pattern directly forecast internal motivation, external motivation and other dimensions.3. Mother's rejection and deny, father's emotion warmth and understanding, professional knowledge, family income, father's over-protection and educational background were excellent predictors of students' learning motivation(R2=0.364,F=22.854,P<0.01). The result further showed that parenting style had influences on learning motivation of clinical probation students.Research conclusions:1. The nursing students in clinical probation have weak learning motivation. There are significant differences concerning the learning motivation of nursing students with regards to educational background, family income, professional knowledge, living area and gender.2. The total of clinical probation students'learning motivation had significantly positive correlation with parental emotion warmth and understanding, and had significantly negative correlation with parental predilection, rejection and deny, over-protection and maternal penalty and severe.3. Father's emotion warmth and understanding could positively predict learning motivation of the nursing students in clinical probation. Mother's rejection, deny and father's over-protection has significantly negative prediction to learning motivation.
