Objective: To estimate the effect of three antipsychotics (Chlorpromazine, Risperidone, Arpiprazole) on blood-lipid of patients with schizophrenia, to assess the safety of different antipsychotic drugs, and to provide new material and clinical experience for using antipsychotic drugs reasonably. Methods: One hundred and forty seven schizophrenics treated with only one of antipsychotic drugs (Chlorpromazine, Risperidone, Arpiprazole) at least 6-month were selected. Blood-lipid on an empty stomach was assessed prior and after 1-month, 3-month, 6-month treatment, including Triglyceride (TG), Total Cholesterol (TC), High Density Lipoprotein (HDL), and Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL).Results:①A fter 3 months treatment of Chlorpromazine, TG and TC levels of patients with schizophrenia was increased significantly than the level of prior treatment (P<0.05); after 6 months treatment of Chlorpromazine, TG and TC levels of patients with schizophrenia was increased significantly than the level of prior treatment (P<0.01), after 1 months treatment (P<0.01) and after 3 months treatment (P<0.05, P<0.01), HDL levels of patients with schizophrenia was decreased significantly than the level of prior treatment (P<0.01) and after 1 months treatment (P<0.05), LDL level of patients with schizophrenia was increased significantly than the level of prior treatment (P<0.05);②A fter 3 months treatment of Risperidone, TG and TC levels of patients with schizophrenia was increased significantly than the level of prior treatment (P<0.05); after 6 months treatment of Risperidone, TG and TC levels of patients with schizophrenia was increased significantly than the level of prior treatment (P<0.01), after 1 month treatment (P<0.01) and after 3 months treatment (P<0.05, P<0.01), HDL level of patients with schizophrenia was decreased significantly than the level of prior treatment (P<0.01) and after 1 month treatment (P<0.05), LDL level of patients with schizophrenia was increased significantly than the level of prior treatment (P<0.01) and after 1 month treatment (P<0.05);③After treatment of Aripiprazole, there was no significant differences on TG , TC, HDL and LDL between before and after treatment (P>0.05);④After 3 months treatment of Chlorpromazine, TC level of female patients with schizophrenia was increased significantly than the level of male patients with schizophrenia (P<0.05) ; after 6 months treatment of Chlorpromazine, TG, TC and LDL levels of female patients with schizophrenia was increased significantly than the levels of male patients with schizophrenia (P<0.05) in the same time;⑤After 6 months treatment of Risperidone, TG and TC levels of female patients with schizophrenia was increased significantly than the level of male patients with schizophrenia (P<0.05) in the same time;⑥A fter treatment of Aripiprazole, there was no significant differences on TG, TC, HDL and LDL between female patients with schizophrenia and male patients with schizophrenia (P>0.05);⑦After 3 months treatment of Chlorpromazine, LDL level of older patients(41 years-60 years) with schizophrenia was increased significantly than the level of younger patients(18 years-40 years) with schizophrenia (P<0.05); after 6 months treatment of Chlorpromazine, TG, TC and LDL levels of older patients(41 years-60 years) with schizophrenia was increased significantly than the level of younger patients(18 years-40 years) with schizophrenia (P<0.05);⑧After 6 months treatment of Risperidone, TC level of older patients (41 years-60 years) with schizophrenia was increased significantly than the level of younger patients (41 years-60 years) with schizophrenia (P<0.05);⑨After treatment of Aripiprazole, there was no significant differences on TG, TC, HDL and LDL between older patients(41 years-60 years) with schizophrenia and younger patients (18 years-40 years) with schizophrenia (P>0.05).Conclusions:①Long-term using Chlorpromazine and Risperidone will increase blood-lipid level of patients with schizophrenia, especially for the female patients between 41 years old and 60 years old;②The effects of Aripiprazole on blood-lipid level of patients with schizophrenia are small than Chlorpromazine and Risperidone.
