Objective To evaluate the efficacy and accuracy of preoperative combined examination in predicting postoperative visual acuity in cataract patient. Methods Total 262 eyes (252 cases ) with different types of cataract were enrolled. Preoperative examination included uncorrected and corrected visual acuity, pupil reflection and light orientation, color examination, indirect fundal ophthalmoscopy, hardness of lens nucleus, intraocluar pressure, corneal curvature, eyeball axial length, B ultrasonic imaging, F-ERG, F-VEP and retinometer. According to the above results, postoperative visual acuity was predicted. That was compared with the best correctied visual acuity(BCVA) on postoperative week 4.Results Based on the postoperative BCVA, the accuracy of preoperative prediction was 70.45%.Conclusions Preoperative combined examination is an effective way to predict postoperative visual acuity in cataract patients.
