Risk Factor Analysis In Leukoaraiosis Patients With Cerebral Infarction

Objective: To analyze the related risk factors in patients of cerebral infarction with leukoaraiosis and to investigate their pathogenesis.Methods: The clinical data of 221 patients with cerebral infarction underwent by MRI scans ,who were hospitalized in Department of Neurology of The Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from July 2010 to December 2010 with cerebral infarction were analyzed retrospectively. And they were divided into a cerebral infarction with LA group (n=156) and a cerebral infarction without LA group (n=65). A singl factor and Logistic regression analysis were performed among age, sex, smoking, alcohol consumption, hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes, cerebral type, high cholesterol.Results:1. The incidence of LA was 70.6% in 221 cerebral infarction patients.2. The results of single logistic regression.(1) Patients ranged in age from 21 to 93 years with a mean of 68±11 years.The 221 patients with cerebral infarction were divided into four age groups.It showed that the LA incidence in patients rose with the increasing of age(P<0.01).(2) The 221 patients were divided into a group with lacunar infarction (n=152) and a group not with lacunar infarction (n=69) according to the size of cerebral infarction .The incidence of LA in two groups was 76.3%(116/152) and 58%(40/69) respectively. And the difference was significant. The incidence of LA in patients with lacunar infarction in basal ganglia was 79.8%, when compared to other groups, the difference was significant.(3) The incidence of LA was 74.8% and 61.4% in patients with hypertension and that with normal blood pressure. The difference between the two groups was significant.(4) There was no significant difference between the group with LA and the group not with LA among sex, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipemia, arteriosclerosis, coronary heart disease, smoking and drinking.3. The age and lacunar infarction were included in the logistic regression analysis model, and the result suggested that the older were more easy to occur LA, while the incidence of LA in patients with lacunar infarction was higher than those not with infarction.Conclusion:1. The incidence of LA in cerebral infarction patients was associated with age, hypertension and lacunar infarction. But according to Logistic regression analysis ,only age and lacunar infarction was associated with the incidence of LA while adjusted the other factors.2. Small cerebral-vessel is probably the main pathophysiological basis of patients with LA . The further study of pathogenesis of LA may be helpful for us to prevent and cure it.
