It is very common to use electrical stimulators in biomedical applications. With the development of the electrical stimulation, there are many demanding requirements for electrical stimulators. So, stimulators now are being developed for smaller size, better portability, lower power and more diversity.This paper describes the design process of a biological electrical stimulation chip. At first, the background and importance of stimulators will be introduced. Then, the current status of stimulators will also be summarized, as the motivation for this chip.After that, the innovation points, including universality and configurability are introduced, with ideas detailed. There are several steps to realize the chip, including function and architecture design, modules division, chip synthesis and layout. At last, the scheme to update the chip design will be given to prepare for the future work.
