Objective:Understand the features of children with autism in early development and their behavior, analyzing the discovery situation of abnormalities and exploring the influence factor of the discovery time of abnormalities among children with autism, so as to provide the basis for early identification of autism.Method: Cluster sampling method was employed to select 71 childhood autism cases under 3 years old who had received therapies in one autism rehabilitation center in Wuhan and Children's Hospital of Hunan Province from December 2009 to June 2010. Each childhood autism case was individually matched with one normal child by gender and age. Children main fosters were administered with self-made questionnaire about child behavior and related factors. Epidata3.0 was used to establish database and SPSS12.0 to statistical analysis.Result: (1) general information:①basic information: 142 valid samples (71 cases and 71 controls) were got finally. The sex ratio was 4.07:1 and their ages mainly were 30 to 36 months.②births information: No difference was found between cases and controls in children'gestational weeks and gestational weeks (P>0.05).③family information: No difference was found between cases and controls in family types, parents'age, education level and occupation (P>0.05).(2)developmental condition: The developmental time of big movement, language, individual-social behavior and small movement-adaptability were significantly later among children with autism than normal children (P<0.05).(3) behavior: The incidence of no or little imitation, no eye contact et al 11abnormal behaviors of social interaction were significantly higher among children with autism than normal children (P<0.05). The incidence of no interest in other people's speech, no respond to own name et al 7 abnormal behaviors of language development were significantly higher among children with autism than normal children (P<0.05). The incidence of repetitive behaviors and interest peculiarity were significantly higher among children with autism than normal children (P<0.05).(4)The discovery situation of abnormalities:①The first discoverers of abnormalities among children with autism mainly were mother (70.42%).②The abnormalities which easily be noted by caregivers were repetitive motor behavior (32.39%), no responding to one's name (26.76%) and no speaking (14.08%).③The average age of abnormalities discovery among children with autism was 17.92 month and 80.28 percent of them were discovered before the age of two.(5)The influential factors of the discovery time of abnormalities:①Single factor analysis: single factor analysis showed the number of children, birth abnormalities history, family history, foster care history and caregivers were the influential factors of discovery time of abnormalities.②General linear model analysis: The children without foster care history were discovered earlier than those with foster care history. The children taken care by the mother were discovered earlier than those taken care by the grandparents. Conclusion: children with autism were developmental retardation and had showed some characteristic behaviors in early childhood, their discovery situation of abnormalities were closely related with the primary. Therefore, it should be strengthened caregiver health education of autism to increase their level of awareness of autism and payed attention to screening characteristic behaviors of autism, so as to promote early identification of children with autism.
