Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder with the main symptoms of perception, emotion, language, cognitive, behavior and other disorders. Enjoyment and openness make play become children's main activities and an important way to improve mental development. However, autistic children show great defects in play ability and the studies of autistic children's play ability are also scarce.Based on the review of the concepts, structures, measurements and applied researches of autistic children's play ability, this research had 130 autistic children assessed by "Questionnaire on Play Ability of the Autistic Children" to explore the characteristics of the autistic children's play ability and selected 69 autistic children to accept the training curriculums which lasted for 4 months. All the data collected was analyzed by spss13.0 to examine the effectiveness of the tools, explore the basic characteristics of children's play ability and verify the effectiveness of the training curriculums. The results of this study are summarized as follows:(1) The play ability was different between different play types. Among the five play subscales, the body play developed best, then is the constructive play and social play, the level of the games with rules was the lowest.(2) The age of the autistic children as the independent variable has a significant impact on play ability. The significant data difference on the general scale and Subscales indicates that play ability rises with the age.(3) The length of time training for autistic children has impact on play ability. The longer the children have been trained, the higher level of play ability they have arrived. The survey result also showed that the training effect would be obvious unless 9 months of training;(4) The language level of autistic children has a significant impact on play ability. Language level obviously promotes the development of children's play ability;(5) Autistic children's play ability and development ability are positively correlated. Autistic children's play ability could predict children's general development level;(6) The result of the Paired t-Test can be firmly confirmed that the continuous 4 months professional training is effective to the autistic children's play ability.
