ObjectivePoststroke depression ( PSD ) is one of familiar complication of cerebrovascular disease . It not only makes patients with stroke have more psychological pain, but also slows the physical restore of them, at the same time it increases the days of in-patient , the medical expense and death rate. In the recent years, PSD has been emphasized more by clinician, there was more and more studies on the relative factors of PSD. This study is to investigate the incidence rate of PSD and the relative factors of PSD.Methods325 patients with acute stroke had the first onset after hospitalization from Liwan Hospital Of Guangzhou Medical College and The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong University Of Pharmacy, 134 males and 191 females, Cerebral infarct 273 cases, Intracerebral hemorrhage 52 cases . Patients were followed up by Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD), National Institutes Of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Activities Of Daily Living ( ADL), Social Support Scale (SSRS) , and a self-designed form (including sex, age, education, family income, current smoke, alcohol drink, Hypertension, Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia, Heat disease, type of cerebrovascular disease and lesion location). All cases were divided into two groups , non-PSD and PSD group , based on HAMD score , the incidence rate of PSD was calculated . The data of the two groups were compared, the factors which had statistic difference were analyzed by Logistic regression. All cases were divided into three groups, non-PSD, low-degree PSD and middle or above-degree PSD group, according to (HAMD) score. The data of the three groups was analyzed by Spearman rate correlation.ResultsThe incidence rate of PSD was 38.2%. The rate of low-degree PSD was 26.5%, and the rate of middle or above-degree PSD was 11.7%. Female, under middle school education, income less than 2000 yuan per family people per month, Hypertension, Diabetes, Heat disease were more prevalent in the PSD group (P<0.05,P<0.01,P<0.001). The score of NIHSS was higher in PSD group(P<0.001), the scores of ADL and SSRS were higher in non-PSD group(P<0.001). Multivariable Logistic regression showed that sex, family income, Hypertension, Heat disease, activities of daily living, neurological deficits were independent predictors. Spearman rate correlation showed that the degree of PSD was positively associated with female, Hypertension, Diabetes, Heat disease, neurological deficits, and was inversely associated with level of education, family income, activities of daily living and social support.ConclusionPSD is a familiar complication of cerebrovascular disease. It is a result of multiple factors, maybe immediately related to sex, family income,Hypertension, Heat disease, activities of daily living, neurological deficits. The factors above are useful scientific evidence for prevention and clinical therapy of PSD.
