Objective To explore the reliability and validity of the Short Form of the Quality of Life Enjoyment and Satisfaction Questionnaire (Q-LES-Q-SF) in patients with anxiety disorders. Furthermore, to explore the quality of life and related factors in patients with anxiety disorders. Methods A sample of 210 patients meeting the criteria of DSM-IV for anxiety disorders came from Shandong Mental Health Center and An Kang Hospital of Shandong Province were evaluated with the Q-LES-Q-SF, the World Health Organization Quality of Life Brief Questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS), Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)and self-designed general condition questionnaire.Matched with age, sex, the level of education,210 people came from the healthful staff and their family of the two hospitals composed of controls.Criterion validity was studied with WHOQOL-BREF, Cronbach coefficient was used to evaluate the internal reliability, and 105 patients were retest after 30 days. All available questionnaires were established a data by Epidata3.0 and were analyzed by SPSS 18.0. The main statistic analysis involved factor analysis, descriptive analysis,T-test, Chi-square test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and stepwise regression analysis. Results: 1.the reliability and validity of Q-LES-Q-SF:The range of correlation coefficient of the sixteen item with the total score of the scale was(0.419~0.697,P<0.01).The Cronbach's a coefficient of Q-LES-Q-SF was 0.845,and the retest reliability of was 0.865(P<0.01).The total score of Q-LES-Q-SF was correlated with scores of dimensions and total score of WHOQOL-BREF(0.488~0.805,P<0.01);The score of Q-LES-Q-SF in patients were significantly lower than that in normal controls(t=16.07 1,P<0.01).2.The scores of patients were significantly lower than that of the normal controls in physiology domain, psychology domain, social relations domain, environmental domain, and the total score of WHOQOL-BREF and Q-LES-Q-SF(t=13.720,14.025, 8.511,6.819,13.362,16.075, P<0.01).There had significant differences among the patients with different subtype in scores of psychology domain, social relations domain and the total score of WHOQO L-BREF(F=3.157,5.433,2.824,3.418, P<0.01), and the patients with post-trauma-tic stress disorder patients have the lowest score.3. The prevalence of depression of anxiety disorders patients(41.8%) was significantly higher than that(7.8%) of the control group(P<0.001).There had signific-ant differences among the patients with anxiety disorders with depression, anxiety disorders without depression and normal controls mainly in scores of physiology domain, psychology domain, social relations domain, environmental domain, and the total score of WHOQOL-BREF and Q-LES-Q-SF(F=132.633,115.094,49.569,34. 604,119.956,157.232, P<0.01).The poorer quality of life patients with anxiety disorders with depression had than the patients with anxiety disorders without depression and normal controls(P<0.01),and the patients with anxiety disorders without depression had poorer quality of life than normal controls(P<0.01).4. The score of WHOQOL-BREF and the total score of Q-LES-Q-SF in female patients were significantly lower than those of male ones. There had significant difference in physiology domain among different marital status of the anxiety disorders patients(F=2.928,P<0.01),unmarried had the highest score and remarried had lowest score.Different education levels of the patients had difference in score of physiology domain(F=5.544,P<0.01),bachelor had the highest score, and the junior high school had the lowest score. There had significant difference in score of physiology domain and the total score of Q-LES-Q-SF among patients with different types of personality(F=3.157,5.594, P<0.05).Patients with different occupations had difference in score of physiology domain and the total score of WHOQOL-BREF (F=4.133,3.166,2.855,P<0.05),students had the highest score, the farmer and the else(such as small private businessmen,laid-off worker, unemployedmen) had the lowest score. There had significant difference in environmental domain and the total score of Q-LES-Q-SF among different economic levels of patients(F=15.106,8.128, P<0.05).5.Correlation analysis showed:age, sex, the level of education, occupation, hobbies changes, social relations, family relations, economic conditions, duration of disease, the standard scores of SAS and SDS, the total score of PSQI were the relative factors influencing quality of life of patients with anxiety disorder(P<0.OS).6.The results of multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that the main factors influencing quality of life of Anxiety Disorders Patients were the standard scores of SAS and SDS, the total score of PSQI, social relations and economic conditions(P<0. 05).Conclusion:1. The Chinese version of Q-LES-Q-SF has relatively good reliability and validity, and could be used to assess the quality of life of patients with Anxiety Disorders.2. The quality of life in patients with anxiety disorders would be worse than that of normal people, and may be influenced by depression, anxiety and sleep quality.3. The comorbidity with depressive symptoms is quite common in patients with anxiety disorders. Patients coexistent with depressive symptoms would have more severe anxiety symptoms and poorer quality of life.
