Objective:To investigate the clinical features, MRI features and treatment of toxic encephalopathy induced by organic solvent. To further improve cognition of the clinical physician for toxic encephalopathy induced by organic solvent, thus reduce mistakes of diagnosis and treatment.Methods:The clinical features, MRI features and treatment of the 2 cases with chronic exposure to paint or shoe glue were analyzed, and the literature were reviewed.Results:Two patients both presented with dizziness, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and consciousness obstacle, etc, both had a history of exposure to organic solvent, both had intracranial hypertension. Cranial MRI showed that the bilateral brain white matter were diffuse involvement. After the treatment of dehydrating agent, glucocorticoid and supportive treatment, two cases were improved.Conclusions:The main clinical feature of patients with toxic encephalopathy induced by organic solvent is intracranial hypertension. Combined with the MRI features and the history of exposure to organic solvent, the diagnosis is clear. The prognosis is usually good with early use of dehydrated agent, glucocorticoid and supportive treatment.
