Objective:To observe the clinical effects of the treatment of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) patients (the type of Phlegm-heat Stranded in lung) with Ma Xing Shi Gan decoction, survey the changes in the levels of MPO and TNF-a, and then discuss its clinical treatment effect.Method:Using a randomized and controlled method, the 78 patients, who were admitted in ICU with VAP, in the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, from January 2008 to June 2010, were divided into 2 groups. The 38 cases of control group were treated with antibiotic imipenem and cilastatin sodium. The other 40 cases of test group were treated with Tienam and Ma Xing Shi Gan decoction 100ml. The two groups were treated for one week, and then the clinical results were compared. Moreover, the levels of MPO and TNF-a, were compared and analyzed too.Results:(1)Test group clinical curative effect is statistically significantly superior to the control group.(2)The levels of MPO and TNF-a of two groups are all decreased, but Ma Xing Shi Gan decoction cooperated with modern medicine decrease more significant than the control group. (3)No observed significant adverse reactions were found during the period of the treatment of VAP with Ma Xing Shi Gan decoction.Conclusion:(1)Test group clinical curative effect is statistically significantly superior to the control group.(2)The levels of MPO and TNF-a of two groups are all decreased, but test group decrease more significant than the control group. (3) No observed significant adverse reactions were found during the period of the treatment of VAP with Ma Xing Shi Gan decoction.
