Objective:To observe the effects of head acupuncture with Through needling method combining body acupuncture with Half needling method on the gross motor functions and the fine motor functions of the infant with cerebral palsy. In order to provide for infant a feasible and valid treatment.Method:Using the prospective control method of the open-label trial, the sixty child patients who meet the criterion of research were divided in two groups:treatment group and control group. The treatment group besides has the rehabilitation training it also receives the head acupuncture with Through needling method and the body acupuncture with Half needling method.3 months as a course of treatment and both groups of child patients were evaluated in gross motor functions and fine motor functions before and after one treatment. The evaluating items are Gross Motor Function Measure manual (GMFM) and Peabody Development Motor Scales 2 (PDMS). Then use the statistical software SPSS 17.0 to analyze the difference of treatment effects between control group and treatment group.Results:1. Before the treatment there was no significant difference in the general condition and in the quotients of the gross motor functions and the fine motor functions of both groups of child patients. The quotients are comparable (P>0.05).2. After one treatment, comparing the index of the gross motor functions of the both groups with the index before the treatment, the difference is statistically significant (P>0.05); comparing the index of gross motor functions after one treatment between control group and treatment group there is statistically significant difference (P<0.05).3. After one treatment, comparing the index of fine motor functions' quotient of both groups with the index before the treatment, the treatment group has statistically significant difference (P<0.01), the control group has no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). Conclusion:1. The treatments used in the both groups can anyway improve the gross motor functions of cerebral palsy children. But the treatment effects are significance better in the treatment group which received the head acupuncture with Through needling method and the body acupuncture with Half needling method.2. The combination of head acupuncture and body acupuncture by their methods can significantly improve the fine motor functions of child patients. But the only rehabilitation training can't significantly improve them.Analyzing the clinical comparison can previously demonstrate the operability, the effectivity and the relative safety of the combination of head acupuncture with Through needling method with body acupuncture with Half needling method to cure the infant with cerebral palsy.
