Objective:To observe the efficacy of treating Tourette's Syndrome (hyperactivity of heart-liver fire type) in children with acupuncture treatment, and explore its mechanism, then provide an effective way to treat Tourette's Syndrome. Methods:Clinical research:In this study, A prospective self-control study was applied in 26 children with TS, we establish studying standards, and given them acupuncture treatment,10 times as a course of treatment, were treated with 3 courses. Symptomatic effect, integral of Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) before and after treatment were observed and compared.21 cases of Tourette's Syndrome in remission being followed up for 3 months were analysed for relapse rate. Results:Except for 2 amotic cases, there were 24 cases totally. The total YGTSS score and decrease rate showed significance (P<0.01). The scores of motor tics and vocal tics were marked improved than before treatment(P<0.01 or P<0.05).The results of clinical observations showed 12 markedly effective cases (50.0%),9 improved cases (37.5%) and 3 ineffective cases (12.5%), the total effective rate reaching 87.5%. None of these children had any adverse reaction to acupuncture treatment. After follow-up visited the objects which finished the observing and acquired effects three months later, recurrence rates were only 0(0/5).Conclusion:By clearing heart and repressing liver, strengthening body resistance, the acupuncture can effectively control the motor tics, vocal tics and integrate trauma of TS, without any side effects, and the recurrence rate is low. It's an effective and safe method for treating Tourette's Syndrome.
