Objective:The clinical therapeutic effect of the nourishing yin and yanmu decoction, for tonifying the liver and kidney as well as nourishing yin and the blood, combined with artificial tears on the type of "ganshenyinxu" dry eye.Method:120 diseased eyes of 60 patients were randomized into groups. Treatment group (Tutor' self-made nourishing yin and yangmu tang combined with leiran-eyedrops) in which 60 eyes of 30 cases were treated. Meanwhile, the control group in which 60 eyes of 30 cases were treated by leiran-eyedrops rather than traditional Chinese medicine so as to compare the clinical effect of two groups.Results:1. It was one month later when the treatment group reached the total effectiveness of 86.67%, compared to that of 73.33% of the control group. According to the rank test of categorical data, the treatment group far outweighs the control group in therapeutic effect.2.Every observed index (including schirmer I test, tear break-up time, corneal fluorescien staining points, dry eye symptom points, Ocular Surface Disease Index) after one-month treatment shows significant differences compared to the index before the treatment (P<0.05).3. under treatment for one month for both groups, the comparison between groups of each index (including schirmer I test, tear break-up time, corneal fluorescien staining points, dry eye symptom points, Ocular Surface Disease Index) and independent t test of two samples shows statistical meaning of differences. Conclusion:apply only a few drops of artificial tear such as leiran-eyedrops to the eyes can ease the clinical symptom of dry eye. Combined the traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine, treatment for tonifying the liver and kidney as well as nourishing yin and the blood can improve the general circulation and deal with both symptoms and body resistance, strengthening tear secretion.
