As the only waterway transport channel throughout the eastern, central and western regions in our country, Yangtze River is the transport aorta of economic belt.In recent years, with the rapid development of ecomomy along the Yangtze River, the number of vessel increase a lot, and at the same time vessel become more and more large, which led to be more crowded in channel, because of the reasons above, many vessel accidents such as sinking and death missing occur frequently in Yangtze River.Therefore, how to reduce the number of vessel accidents and the impact caused by accidents, has become one of the concerned issues in society.The thesis takes the vessel traffic accidents as the object of study, with the purpose of improving the level of development of inland water transport, through the use of GIS and database'technology, the thesis establish an vessel traffic accident analysis system to carry out analysis of characteristics in spatial and temporal distribution.In addition, through theoretical analysis of diesel engine fault tree and the research of mechanism in Marine Diesel engine monitoring and fault diagnosis, at last, with the research of the law and influencing factors of main type of vessel accidents, it provides a theoretical support for preventing and reducing the occurrence of similar vessel traffic accident in future.The main content of this thesis is divided into four parts.First of all, take Visual C++6.0as the development platform, develop an spatial and temporal analysis system about vessel traffic accident by connecting the MapX control, which include function of visualization management and statistical analysis of accident data.Secondly, according to different time, different sectors and different distribution of ship types, this paper carry out statistical analysis of characteristics of accident distribution for the vessel traffic accident data in2006-2010, which happened in the channel of jurisdiction of Yangtze Maritime Bureau.Thirdly, introduce the main mechanical equipment failures of ship in Yangtze river, and do analysis of mechanism in Marine Diesel engine monitoring and fault diagnosis.At last, do some research in vessel traffic accident distribution indifferent channel condition and vessel type for the main type accident such as collision and grounding.
