| The fuel system makes up an essential part of the diesel engine. The quality of work of the fuel system directly influences the performance of the diesel engine. Fault diagnose is somehow difficult in the fuel system because of its complicated and diverse nature. Hence, for the maintenance of the diesel engine, it is really important to make effective diagnose about fault in the fuel supply and take appropriate precautionary measures. This paper first introduces the structural principle of the fuel system of the diesel engine. Then by analyzing the fault characteristics, the mode fault positions, the fault mechanisms and common fault examples, the paper suggests detailed strategies for detecting and repairing certain system fault modes, giving the abnormal phenomenon that occurs with a fault and analysis for the cause of that fault, thus providing a service for system fault diagnose and maintenance. Furthermore, with the guidance of the Fault Tree Analysis Theory, a fault tree is set up intended for analyzing common fault modes in the fuel system of the diesel engine. Taking fault mode analysis and Fault Tree Analysis as knowledge source, a data base system is organized and built up based on fault tree technology, which combines production rule method and frame method to represent diagnosis knowledge, and in which rule and fault tree is well integrated.This Fault Tree Analysis based technology of fault diagnose in the fuel system of diesel engine can on the one hand improve repair speed, shorten repair time, enhance engine lifespan, and on the other hand quickly restore the technical state in equipment maintenance. It also improve the efficiency and quality of maintenance by targeted maintenance condition-specific maintenance, instead of traditional afterwards and periodical maintenance. It also minimizes maintenance frequency, avoids excess maintenance and reduces maintenance cost. |
