PCW(Power Controllable Warhead) is a kind of warhead that can adjustment the power by change the percentage of deflagration explosives in main explosives, to adapt kinds of battlefield needs. The mechanism of PCW has broad application prospects, it can be used to all ammunition such as missiles and grenades. When it uses in bomb, the PCW can control the range of destruction, achieve accurate damage.The mechanism of PCW based on the Deflagration to Detonation Transition(DDT) has been studied in this paper. The model of DDT has been established by reasonable assumptions; The formula which use to calculate the overpressure when the explosives occur DDT has been derived based on the overpressure empirical formula; The influences of ignition intensity, the way of detonation, constraints, the condition of filling have been studied by using the AUTODYN-2D based on the Lee-Tarver. How to control the detonation-induced distance has also been studied in this paper. At last, according to the experiment, DDT has occurred in the explosive of 8701 in certain conditions, the results of how ignition intensity influence DDT has been achieved.
