With the rapid development of science and technology, the management environment of the enterprise has undergone great changes. The traditional operation mode cannot meet the needs of the market's demand. The enterprise is facing serious challenges, so the enterprise must use the information technology to enhance its competitiveness.The author studied the theory and application of CAPP and group technology, and found that CAPP and group technology had played a very important role in machinery manufacturing enterprise to reduce cost and improve the efficiency of process design. So combining CAPP and group technology, computer aided process planning was studied based on the similarity of the parts.According to the actual demand of CAPP system of the enterprise machining workshop, a CAPP system platform was built on the basis of group technology and coding technology. And the main research contents are as follows:(1) OPITZ encoding system was adopted to sort the code of parts, the similar characteristic matrix of part group was established, then coding method and similarity evaluation were used to estimate part group. (2)Database of instance process information was refined. ELECTREâ…¢method was adopted to select the optimal process route from several process routes. (3)Database of typical process information was refined. According to the part coding, the typical process of relevant parts group was invoked, then it was modified to finish the new process planning. (4) Database of process resource information was refined. According to the process resource, human-computer interaction was adopted to finish the new process planning. Through the above research work, the CAPP system of DVR's machining workshop was built to improve the efficiency of process design.
