Process planning is the bridge that links product design with manufacture. As the computer realizing way for process planning, CAPP is the pivotal technology to realize the integration between CIMS and CAD/CAM. CAPP technique not only resolved the problem of the standardization and automation in process planning in enterprise, but also resolved the problem of the information in manufacturing enterprise. At the same time, it is the key technique to establish the CIMS in the enterprise. It can short the period of preparative for production, and it is the guarantee of increasing the manufacturing quantity and optimizing the manufacturing resources.By analyzing the problems in process-planning of Taixing Group, the paper investigated how to apply group technology(GT) and how to achieve derive of process-planning. The GT of process-planning is researched in the paper for solve the key problem, which includes the structure similarity, classification, manufacturing process and coding system, as well as the group process of the typical parts of GT process-planning in Taixing Group.Meanwhile, the parts of production, which belongs to two serial productions in Taixing Group are extensively analyzed, including the similarity of parts in structure and manufacturing process. And then, a new rule for the classification and coding system in Taixing Group is presented, which includes 11 bits code and the meanings for each bit are explained in detail. It provides a ground work for application of GT in Taixing Group. As a result, the groups of parts for two productions in Taixing Group can be roughly determined and the codes can be generated by the rule. And also, the paper introduced the consequence flow of parts process. That is according to the matching of the categoried code and the earmark matrix of parts and part group to search the group process, and then use the process chain to develop the group process. Finally, some examples are given for the applications of GT in Taixing Group. In order to show how to workout process with multiple process's routing method based on GT, the steps of GT and index of technology are given and the all manufacturing process routing are list in the paper. It shows a great efficiency with low cost and short time in manufacturing.
