The Comprehensive Evaluation Of The Development Of Dalian Port Logistics

With the development of the world economy and international trade, the functions and role of ports as a global integrated logistics node have been changed and pots are gradually becoming the core of global logistics integrated transportation system. Functions of ports have been change to integrated logistics center from a sea and land transportation transit center. How to play the advantages of ports during the process of developing logistics industry, especially how to take measures to strengthen the construction of ports, improve and extend its functions, have become an urgent task.In recent years, Dalian port has made great progress in accelerating the construction of regional logistics center and northern international shipping center. Dalian city has gradually formed a comprehensive network system providing international logistics services. The development of Dalian port logistics are also in the process of extending and improving. Therefore, this paper studies the development of Dalian port logistics and then we provide suggestions for its development.Based on the analysis of domestic and international research, this paper introduced the concept of characteristics of port logistics and also the basic functions and extension functions of port logistics. And we also introduced the main modes of port logistics development and some logistics experiences of international advanced ports such as Rotterdam, Antwerp, Hongkong and Singapore which provided a reference for the suggestions of the development of Dalian port logistics. Also, we analyzed the strength, weakness, opportunities and challenges of Dalian port logistics by SWOT analysis. And based on the principle of constructing the evaluation index system of port logistics development level, we constructed the evaluation index system including the scale of port logistics, port infrastructure, port logistics support and the potential port logistics development. With combination of the principal component analysis and cluster analysis, we analyzed the logistics development data of main coastal ports in 2008 and we got the results of the level of port logistics development of all the proposed coastal ports. Then we proposed that Dalian port logistics are in the middle level of the overall coastal ports logistics development. And finally, we put forward the overall planning initiatives and development suggestions of logistics development for Dalian port.
