With the development of the embedded technology, it's possible to apply the embedded information technology to elevator control system. The elevator multimedia system is the product of the embedded technology application. At the same time, the conmunication and remote monitor of elevator become more steady and safe based on the the rapid development of CAN(Control Area Network) conmunication and network technology. The quality of the product and service will be promoted if apply the embedded multimedia technology, CAN technology and remote monitor technology to the elevator car. This paper has developed an integrated system used on elevator, which combines the functions of multimedia display and remote monitor. In order to build an integrated embedded hardware platform, the system expanded some peripheral hardware modules including LCD driver&control interface, CAN conmunication interface, Ethernet interface, SD card interface and I/O interface based on the embedded microprocessor LPC2478.There are four modules in the software design of the embedded elevator multimedia system. Firstly, with the purpose of structure elevator multimedia display system, the embedded graphic moduleμC/GUI is transplanted in order to design the Human-Machine interface. Secondly, the effect of the multimedia display can be enhanced with the software decoding of image&audio file saved in the SD card. Thirdly, a CAN application software is also designed which realizes the real-time and reliable communication between the multimedia system controller and master controller. In addition, the elevator multimedia system has the network communication function based on the LPC2478 internal Ethernet controller and the embedded TCP/IP technology and PC can get the real-time running data of elevator and show on the local screen. At last, the RTOSμC/OS-Ⅱis transplanted to allocate system resources reasonably and ensure all functions run normally. According to the design of this paper, the combination of hardware and software can ensure working state of the elevator multimedia system steadily and meet user's demands very well.
