| With the development of micro-electronics technology, computer technology and communications technology, the information era has come. Image is used widely as the carrier of information. Multimedia technology's development makes the data quantum huge. So this brings the very big pressure to data storage, data transmission and the computer speed. As we known data compress is an effective method to solve this problem. Through the data compressing, the storage space is saved and the transmission efficiency is improved.In this paper, a research on JPEG baseline ISO10918-1 standard used in static pictures is done. The 8×8 pixels's compressing module is designed. The algorithms used in JPEG are introduced, including color conversion, DCT, quantization, Zig-Zag Sequence, RLE encoding and huffman encoding etc. And all the modules are implemented. A SIMD microprocessor which is used to perform DCT is designed which has the advantage of flexity and can be upgraded easily.All of the modules are based on the reuse methodology. As the IP core which can be used not only in JPEG, but in other image processing chips also. |
