The Techniques Of Jiangnan Traditional Garden Space Applied To Modern Landscape

From the perspective of space, this paper find out the requirements of modern society andmodern aesthetics, then analyzes the spatial connotation and characteristic of the classicalgarden of jiangnan and the problems of application to the modern landscape design. Making itclear of the internal relation between the spatial advantage of the traditional garden and thespatial requirement of the modern garden, then this paper will put forward suggestions for thedevelopment of modern landscape design in China. Meanwhile, the superb spatial designmethods of the classical garden of jiangnan will be inherited and carried forward. At the time ofmeeting the demand of modern people, the historic and brilliant Chinese traditional garden alsowill be continued and promoted.This paper is mainly divided into four parts. Firstly, in order to summarize the basiccharacteristics of the classical garden of jiangnan–fuzziness, extensibility, liquidity andmetaphor, the cultural background and spatial consciousness should be analyzed systematically.Secondly, based on the basic characteristics of spatial and analysis of Liu yuan, the classicalgarden of jiangnan has four main space design method: contrast, segmentation, extensions andturn, and the common combination of them. Thirdly, based on the analyses of the backgroundand spatial consciousness of the modern landscape design, its spatial characteristics will beobtained, then sum up their differences through making contrast between the two kinds ofgarden. The last part of this paper is the application of design methods of the classical garden ofjiangnan to the modern landscape design. In order to find out the correct application methods,both of the limitation of spatial design methods of the classical garden of jiangnan and thedemand of modern landscape should be analyzed. It includes the requirements of aesthetics andfunction, the control of spatial scale. Lastly, based on the argument of some typical cases, I willconclude the practical significance of the application mentioned above, and put forward theprospects.
