Since Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza got Pulitzer Prize, the Southern Europe, especially Spain and Portugal, the architectural style of the two countries have been the world's construction sector concerns.A lot of good architects were born in the two countries, Alberto Campo Baeza and Eduardo Souto de Moura are the best among them. The former was the representative of Spanish Minimalism, who was famous throughout the construction industry, because applying wonderfully light and shadow effects. There were many cities in Spain, where you can see the works of the architect, many buildings that he designed had become the city landmark building. The latter was famous in the construction industry and unknown outside, his projects were under the premise of the unified characteristics, however, each was different and has a feeling of respect for tradition. He won the Pulitzer Prize under the sound of everyone's surprised, which was the second award by Portuguese construction industry.as well as the recognition of Minimalism.Selecting the two architectors as a starting point can promote the study that we study the development of architectural style and modern minimalism in Spanish and Portuguese. Not only because of the status of the two architects in the modern world of the construction industry, but also because their buildings were built around the world, which witnessed a period of building development process.Through analysis and comparison for three aspects of these two architector's architectural concept formation, the reflection of construction techniques in the design as well as their understandings of Minimalism. Readers can understand the way they choose body and color in order to feel visual impact, how to use a combination of space and plane to create a simple and rich living and working environment, how to select materials, how to use the most important "shadow" effect in Minimalism. At the same time the respect of two architectors to building environment and local context, which was worth of our reflections. Analysis objects were projects completed or to be built of two architectors, despite of theory and imagination, from the building itself to explore the conclusions. Then the buildings we see were the most important practical results. Therefore, started from the background of two architectors, through the process of interpretation to their designs step by step so that we can find deep complexity and richness beneath the surface of Minimalism. I hope this exploration and research will enlighten our current creative inspiration.
