The complex building standards in China are multi discipline and up to date. So it costs lots of time of the construction participant. The work efficiency of the construction participant is seriously affected. This thesis makes an attempt to solve the problem by formalizing the standards. A searching platform based on formalized standards is built and aids building participants to apply standards effectively. When the standards are implemented effectively, many nonstandard operations could be prevented and lots of tiny mistakes can be corrected during designing and building process in time. Most of serious problems happened afterwards could be prevented too.Two researching methods are applied in this thesis. The first method is to use the ontology technology. The second method is to use the decision table technology, considering that the standards can all be classified into different categories. The building foundation quality inspection standard is taken as an example in this thesis. The hierarchical structure of the architectural ontology is put forward in building quality inspection. With the help of the self-defined rules of inference in the ontology hierarchical structure level, users can effectively judge whether the detected instances comply with the corresponding standards. Then the rules of building foundation engineering quality based on the decision table technology are set up in this thesis, which help quality control staff to make clear judgments on whether the objects comply with the standards. No matter the ontology or the decision table technology, more research is needed to build up a distributed web-based system. This thesis is a preliminary study in this area. How to combine the two research ways together may be worked in the future.
