Study On Spontaneous Renewal And Design Participation Of Country Dwelling

The spontaneous renewal mode of"Dweller Self-Construction"is a mode that has been passed down to present day ever since ancient times in country. With the rapid social, economic, and cultural development of China in the past twenty years, the long neglected folk dwelling is quietly experiencing a huge reformation: not only the construction quantity is huge, but also the involvement of architects with professional design power has emerged in the renewal of folk dwelling. Among them, the new country construction activity is the main mode of participation.In the current new country construction, the mode of"Government-lead -- Architect Participation"as become the general consensus. Although the initial intention and the involvement of professional expertise are good, the real situation is, farmers are not that satisfied with the design results of architects. The author has participated in several new country design work that also surfaced such situation. The essence of this research is to grasp the core issue of"how the architects can better involve in the renewal of contemporary folk dwelling". Perspectives are set from a common country, basic survey, and common farmers. Rules of contemporary folk dwelling spontaneous renewal are disclosed from the details. Gap between the design activities of architects and these rules is discussed. References and supporting are provided so that architects can better involve in the practical design of new folk dwelling and the construction of new country.The paper is divided into six chapters to discuss the research content.Chapter One Introduction introduces the topic origin, research object, purpose, method, significance and the research status quo domestic and abroad. The Introduction mainly focuses on the survey done at Hu Jia Tai village about its basic information. The survey adopted field survey method, and paved a complete and clear background for the discussion in the following chapters.Chapter Two divides the existing folk dwelling of Hu Jia Tai village according to the construction period. And it relates the according policy, economy, life style and construction technique, to sort out the historical path of the spontaneous renewal of folk dwelling in Hu Jia Tai village. Based upon it, the features of the internal and external special evolution of the folk dwelling in Hu Jia Tai village are discussed. And the main causes under the evolution cover for the spontaneous renewal of folk dwelling are disclosed.From the perspective of villagers, Chapter Three combines the personal experience of and interviews done by the author, to restore the real face of village life, to discover the actual living space needs and space usage condition of the villagers under the transition of contemporary production and life, to remind the architects that their design should be in accordance with the actual needs of the farmers.From the perspective of villagers, and supported by a huge number of interviews and questionnaire surveys, Chapter Four discusses that the main discontent of the villagers on current folk dwelling has changed to higher level of psychological needs. To improve the discontent situation, involvement of architects is demanded. The research also reveals the motivation and will behind the villagers' spontaneous renewal. And based on it, the main renewal idea of the villagers is summarized, to remind the architects that they should respect and understand the renewal idea of the farmers.On the status quo that farmers are dissatisfied with the architects' design of folk dwelling, and upon the basis of the interviews of new country dwelling users, and a design practice done in Hu Jia Tai village by the author, Chapter Five points out in detail the gap between the design intention of the architects and the actual needs and renewal idea of the villagers, and the causes of the gap; discusses the role the architects should play when involved in folk dwelling renewal practice.Chapter Six summarizes the above chapters, and further explores the effective path for architects' reasonable involvement in the rationalization of folk dwelling, addresses that when involved in folk dwelling renewal, the architects should respect the actual situation, and possess more extensive horizon and stronger sense of responsibility outside the layer of design.
