Based on historical culture in China, the so-called "New Chinese Style" brings traditionalconcepts and elements to modern landscape design. It combines both contemporary and ancientlandscape skills. With smart design, it mimics characteristic colors and elements of Chineseculture in order to reconstruct a classical environment in a modern space.In this thesis, after recalling basic concepts of landscape design of residential areas and historicaldevelopment, I summarize principles and characteristics of the "New Chinese Style" as well asits general design techniques in colors, plants, buildings, spaces and symbols. Major problemsthat frequently appear in design and construction and possible solutions are discussed. Then fiveexamples of different styles are analyzed separately in detail.With the people becoming increasingly clear that the pursuit of local culture, the new Chineseresidential area landscape will become a trend. And subsequently to continuously improve andgrow. Shaping the city and even play a catalytic role in the country, is a blend of traditional andmodern culture and weaving, the coexistence of function and beauty, culture and materialscombine to drive the continuation of China's five thousand years of cultural context.
