Ancient Garden Of Zhengzhou

Zhengzhou, located in the centre of China, is the heart of the Central Plains economic zone. It is the 13th largest city basing on its built-up area and population. Besides, it is China's famous historical and cultural cities, and one of China's eight ancient capitals. As early as 4200 years ago, Zhengzhou had been the city of Xia, Shang Dynasty, the capital of Xia, Shang, Kuai, Guan, Zheng, Han, and the state of Sui, Tang, The Five Dynasty, Somg, Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing. There are more than 1400 remains of the ancient culture, including 26 national cultural relics protection units. Pei Li Gang culture, 8000 years' history, was found in Xinzheng city, which is under the jurisdiction of Zhengzhu city. Dahe Village owning 5000 years' history, Qin Village and other types of Yangshao culture and Longshan culture relics were aslo discovered here.There are ancient civilization, broad and profound historical and cultural resources, excellent geographical location, beautiful mountains and rivers and other natural landscape in Zhengzhou city, which have attracted many celebrities, emperor, nobles, literati poets, religious figures, the hermits to worship here in history. These people left here lots of palaces, temples, the manor, government college, temple, etc.. Although a lot of history has become dust and many buildings and garden has been lost or damaged, there are still a number of sites. We can explore the ancient ruinsin from the historical documents and archaeological discovery. Leading idea of this paper is to collect and analyse classical garden history data, comb the ancient garden history, order Chronology of ancient history and sum up garden features in Zhengzhou through literature review, field trips, visiting and exploreing to guide the mordern construction of Zhengzhou. Ancient gardens of Zhengzhou have close relationship with its geographical location, natural environment, political and economic environment. Zhengzhou was considered as a captial for many times before spring and autumn and the Warring States. Meanwhile Zhengzhou located between Bianjing ( Kaifeng) and Luoyang, both of which were often choosen as capitals from Han Dynasty to the Northern Song Dynasty. These are the main factors of appearence , development and change of ancient gardens in Zhengzhou city. Above all, this paper mainly focuses on the history, development and chronology of ancient gardens in Zhengzhou city, on the basis of which, this paper tries to summarize the garden features and comb the ancient garden history to make contributions to the stuedies on ancient gardens of Henan, also China.
