The research on MGIS, which is of great value in military application, is one of the research hotspots in recent years. Spatial analysis is a significant part in MGIS. It processes spatial objects with spatial model and operation, and extracts and digs out hidden spatial information and rules from them to produce new knowledge. Because of the complexity and variety of the requirements, it is urgently needed to understand and analyze these requirements so as to implement them flexibly. Against the background of application in battlefield circumstance, this dissertation deeply discuss and study on modeling and algorithm designing of three key techniques, terrain visibility analysis, real image matching with digital map and multipath planning in road network. The research work are specified as follows:1. Study terrain visibility analysis in depth. Two improved algorithms, the line of sight calculation algorithm based on the nearest visible point and marginal traversing algorithm for viewshed generation, are both put forward to increase their original algorithm efficiency. These two algorithms reuse previous results to reason following ones, which reduce the calculation redundancies and satisfy the requirements of application in large scale data circumstance.2. Discuss the real image matching technique against digital map. A spatio-temporal mapping between real images and digital map is constructed. Then the spatio-temporal query between real images and digital map is implemented. And a systematic framework of spatial information services on real images is designed.3. Go deep into the K shortest paths algorithm in road network. An improved A star K shortest paths algorithm is proposed based on a reverse cost tree structure . It takes advantage of the coordinate information as its heuristic function which is utilized to search for the best candidate path so that the searching space is cut down. And the reverse cost tree structure is adopted to avoid repeated calculation, which advances the algorithm efficiency.4. Systematically design and implement the modularized battlefield-oriented spatial analysis prototype based on the above three key spatial analysis techniques. The interactive application of spatial analysis tools are presented, including map measurement, spatial inquiring, covered area analysis, terrain analysis, video GIS, and route planning, which are applied in practical project as well.
