Study On Renovation Of The Urban Apartments Built After The Tangshan Earthquake

The apartments built after the Tangshan Earthquake have very high percentage in the total amount of housing in Tangshan. Although the structure of those apartments is still in good condition, their layouts, utilities and technical systems could not meet the needs of people today. This thesis analysis and conclude the contradiction between the residential buildings, built in 30 years ago in Tangshan city, and its adaptability of modem life, based on the research of the background when this type of housing emerged, and extensive thorough investigation by the author. According to these contradiction and restrictive factors from reality, The paper proposed the principles and goals of the renovation. Meanwhile, the apartments of this period of time are classified, and renovation methods which aim at different housing typologies are proposed. The thesis, based on numerous investigation and research, focuses on practicability and flexibility of the renovation work, and contributes a significant research to the renovation of the middle-rise apartments built after Tangshan Earthquake.
