The Renovation & Utilization Research Of 70's-80's Urban Middle-rise Apartments In Xi'an

The apartments built in 70's-80's have very high percentage in the total amount of housing in today's Xi'an. Although the structure of those apartments is still in good condition, their layouts, utilities, and technical systems could not meet the needs of people today. This thesis analysis and concluded the contradiction between the residential buildings ,built in 20-30 years ago in Xi'an city, and its adaptability of modern life , based on the research of the background when this type of housing emerged, and extensive & thorough investigation by the author. According to these contradiction and restrictive factors from reality, I proposed the principles and goals of the renovation. Meanwhile, I classified the apartments of this period of time, and proposed renovation methods, which aim at different housing typologies. The thesis, based on numerous investigation and research, focuses on practicability and flexibility of the renovation work, and contributes a significant research to the renovation of the middle-rise apartments built in 70's-80's of Xi'an.
