With the rapid development of society and technology and the progress of society and the improvement of the level of industrialization of China, development of the locomotive has gained unprecedented remarkable achievements. Particularly during the period of "11th Five-Year Plan" China experienced the six-times speed-up of railway and the demand of the technology advance of locomotives is urgent. The institution of scientific research on locomotive take into efforts together with motorcycle manufacturers and cooperated with foreign related company in the technology of the locomotive,which has formed the road of locomotive technology advance of"absorb""assimilation""innovation"and has made the technology of the locomotive greatly improved.However as the need of speed-increasing of locomotive, the demand of the design of the structure and the dynamic system of locomotive will be more and more higher. As an important part of locomotive the design of the structure of locomotive bogie frame would become one of the key tasks of the locomotive design. Locomotive bogie frame is the subject of locomotive bogie, which is one of the most critical parts of bogies, it not only bear the weight of the locomotive, and bear and transfer the force produced by locomotive in the running of the various and random run constantly changing actions in different directions. Its force is complex and often changed with the change of the environment and are different for different operating modes. Many defects of Locomotive are related to the bogies directly or indirectly, so the study of strength and reliability of locomotive bogie not only has a significant impact on the locomotive's performance and security, but also is beneficial to the optimization of existing structure and the improvement of the framework.The large-scale and general finite element software—ANSYS is employed to analyse the frame of an typical B0-B0 high-speed locomotive by FEA. According to the analytical results, the static stress and fatigue stress of frame are checked in the light of current criterions. At the same time, the mode analysis of frame is made and the results are analysed. Based on studying the present situation of codes for design on bogie frame, the deficiencies in current codes are pointed out and the necessity for formulating code for design and calculation of bogie frame is also discussed. The method of strength calculation has the merits such as direct-viewing and simple. The conclusions drawn in this thesis are help for the optimization of existing structure and the improvement of the framework and provide reference for design and calculation of bogie frame.
